Writing to the desk

The Register reads every letter it receives, and answers the ones it can. The desk is small, so a short letter with a clear question gets the fastest reply.

What to write about

• Corrections. If an entry disagrees with a current published standard or a peer-reviewed source, say which entry and which passage. The desk re-checks, and the entry's date moves when it changes.
• Sources. Club documents, veterinary papers and standard texts the desk has not yet used are welcome.
• Questions. General questions about the breed may become entries; the Register does not give veterinary advice for an individual cat.

What not to expect

The desk cannot recommend a breeder, arbitrate a sale, or mediate between buyer and cattery. It cannot confirm whether a particular cat is a purebred Maine Coon; only a registry that holds the pedigree can do that.
